Where are your pet's necessities?

Where are your pet's necessities? There was a time when finding Legend's stuff was a chore.  His medications were in the kitchen, brushes and some toys were on the back porch, other toys and shampoo were in the laundry room, and the leash and collar were where ever we ended the last walk. I still had to hunt for other stuff like the nail clippers or ear wash not quite remembering where I had seen them last.

I found my ideal solution to everyday/all day organization by accident. After returning from our biweekly jaunt, I simply placed Legend's bag on a hook in the laundry room thinking it would be ready for the next trip. I suddenly realized  that this bag was perfect ALL the time. I  rearranged the items in the bag so that the most used items (at home) were in the outside pockets. Collars, leashes, brushes, shampoo. Then I began to gather all his other belongings and place them in the bag. His medications (heart worm, flea/tic treatments and immunization record) were placed in the "pooch pouch" and placed inside the bag and finally Legend was organized. Not everything that belongs to Legend goes into the bag when we are home. As convenient as Doggy Baggage is it still will not hold a 40 lb. bag of food.

I have not misplaced one thing since I began using my Doggy Baggage as an organizer. I'm now prepared for  for an emergency too. Fire, flood, hurricanes or unexpected situations are no longer a problem for Legend. He's ready to go at a moments notice....Hassle free. His human family is not.

Packing For Fido

Legend got spoiled early on. Really Really spoiled. He began to believe that each time I headed for the car, a trip was in store and I swear he can hear keys jingle an acre away. The dog LOVES to ride!!!! No matter the length of the trip I always take a few items along because dogs, like kids, are full of surprises.

Water is always an item. I actually designed the pockets of Doggy Baggage to fit a 32 ounce plastic screw top Gator Aid bottle. For drinking,  I pour into a small bowl but it also comes in handy for "wiping up" or "cleaning off" any mishap.

A towel is a necessity. It is probably the most versatile item I carry. It will clean up, dry off, sop up and act as bedding, all depending on my need of the moment. Toss it in the washer and I'm good to go the next time.

Clean up bags. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY as a dog owner to pick up your mess. Do not leave it for me to step in. Enough said.

Of course longer journeys require more items.Below is a list of items we have found useful when traveling that aren't always considered:

FAVORITE TOY: can help them feel more secure in strange surroundings.

ID TAGS: Put your CELL # on this tag!!! When traveling in unfamiliar areas it can be the fastest and  easiest  way for someone to contact you if they find your pet.

PHOTOS OF YOUR PET: Just in case you need to make fliers.

IMMUNIZATION RECORDS: Depending on the mode of travel (bus, train, air) you will need to carry proof of immunizations. In some cases you may need a Health Certificate as well. Check with your Vet and air carrier to see what is required. (Doggy Baggage "Pooch Pouch" is perfect to store your important papers for easy retrieval)

FLASHLIGHT: This can come in very handy during that midnight potty break.

Of course don't for get the basics, food, dishes, grooming supplies, collars, leashes and, treats.

Now that you have the necessities, pack them in Doggy Baggage, and you're ready to go.....Hassle free!

I have had dogs for most of life. German Shepards with the occasional Lab and a couple of mutts thrown in for good measure. They came into our family and stayed for 10 years or so. Some stayed longer, some not so long. None stayed long enough.

I never thought I would travel with my dog. I just felt that a 120 lb German Shepard belonged at home keeping a watch out for out for intruders. You know, squirrels, armadillos, snakes and the occasional raccoon.

In February of 2008, after a long period with no dogs in our household, I found my new friend. An 8 week old German Shepard puppy we named Legend. Our lives changed completely within a few weeks when my husband was transferred 300 miles away. Legend and I began what was to become our regular jaunt to visit and with it, a completely new out look on traveling with pets.

First, packing in a box does not work! Each stop required unpacking the entire box to find the basic items like water, clean up bags and treats, then you must repack before you continue the journey. With each trip that little puppy is growing into a full fledged dog and the items get larger and quantities of food and water grow as well. These trips were beginning to be a hassle, but I loved the company he provided so I decided to design a bag that would give me immediate access to water, treats , clean up bags, and a toy. All other necessities would be placed inside.

Doggy Baggage was invented out of necessity and has proven to be the ultimate travel and everyday organizer. Three sizes are available for any occasion whether it be extended travel or a day at the beach.

Dogs do change our lives in many ways. Legend gave me a new business!!!!
